Nestled in the heart of the historic Trelowarren Estate, the New Yard Restaurant offers a welcome break with its open log fire, friendly staff and thought-provoking, seasonal New English menus.
As head chef, I pride myself on sourcing only the finest local, seasonal ingredients and produce, such as vegetables from Cusgarne, cheeses from Menallack Farm, oysters, mussels, and scallops hand-dived from the Helford (thus supporting our traditional agricultural economy, minimizing air miles and ensuring absolute freshness). This not only protects their environment but guarantees the quality we strive to deliver. Of course, we also utilise the Estate for game, eggs and herbs, and our bread and chutneys are freshly made in the restaurant’s kitchen. The supply of vegetables, herbs and fruit from our own doorstep, will be increasing as head gardener Peter Oates realizes plans for a kitchen and botanic garden, which will produce fruit and vegetables for the shop and the restaurant.
